The compound interest of showing up: 2 Commas hit 500k
Sep 25, 2025A few weeks ago, 2 Commas hit 500,000 downloads. We're on track to reach 1 million in the next few months, which is frankly unbelievable.
If we were in America, I'd have a gigantic neon sign made and throw it on a billboard. But this is New Zealand, so instead I'll just say I'm pretty chuffed and incredibly grateful to the incredible guests who have given their time and insights in the name of service. Plus of course - much gratitude to the audience - everyone who's listened, shared, and taken the time to send feedback.
What you may be surprised to hear me say, however, is that I actually never set out with this goal. I was genuinely curious about entrepreneurs' stories and I wanted to unlock the learning from people who'd been through the process.
James Clear talks about getting one percent better each day, and while I wasn't consciously applying that framework, that's essentially what happened. Each week, we put out another episode. Each week the team improved the trailers, we positioned better and learned how to dig deeper with the guests.
Each conversation taught me something new and fueled my passion to continue the sometimes relentless pace thats needed with releasing weekly content.
Now as we launch Season 4 - with the addition of some new formats and international guests, I'm reminded that this is just another iteration of the same principle. Keep showing up, keep learning, keep serving the audience that's found value in what you're building. The numbers will take care of themselves.
The lesson isn't about podcasting. It's about the compound interest of small, consistent actions in any area where you want to build something meaningful.
Most people quit too early because they can't see the compounding happening. But it's always happening, even when it's invisible.
Cheers,
Josh
